This document is an instruction manual for the HI 96802 refractometer for fructose measurements. It provides information on the features and usage of the instrument.
The Hanna Instruments HI 96802 is a rugged, portable, water-resistant optical instrument designed to determine the percentage of fructose in aqueous solutions. It employs automatic temperature compensation (ATC) and converts refractive index measurements into percent by weight concentration units within approximately 1.5 seconds.
The device features a dual-level LCD display that shows both the measurement result and the current temperature, along with icons for low battery status and error messages. Key operational capabilities include daily calibration using distilled or deionized water, automatic power-off after three minutes of non-use, and support for both Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
| Range | 0 to 85% / 0 to 80°C (32 to 176°F) |
|---|---|
| Resolution | + 0.1% / +0.1°C (+0.1°F) |
| Accuracy | + 0.2% / + 0.3°C (+0.5°F) |
| Temperature Compensation Range | 10 and 40°C (50 - 104°F) |
| Measurement Time | Approximately 1.5 seconds |
| Minimum Sample Volume | 100pL |
| Battery Type / Life | 1X 9V / 5000 readings |
| Auto-Off Timer | After 3 minutes of non-use |
Calibration should be performed daily, before measurements are made, when the battery has been replaced, or between a long series of measurements.
The instrument requires a minimum sample volume of 100pL to cover the prism totally.
The instrument measures and converts the refractive index to concentration units in approximately 1.5 seconds.
The HI 96802 is warranted for two years against defects in workmanship and materials when used for its intended purpose.
