This document describes the features and characteristics of the PS2841-4A and PS2841-4B photocouplers, including ultra small size, high current transfer ratio, and high isolation voltage.
The NEC PS2841-4A and PS2841-4B are 12‑pin ultra‑shrink SOP photo couplers that integrate a GaAs LED and an NPN silicon phototransistor. Each device provides four isolated channels in a single package, enabling high‑density mounting for PLCs, function automation I/O, and hybrid IC applications.
Key electrical characteristics include a typical current transfer ratio of 200 % at 1 mA LED current, a maximum isolation voltage of 1500 V rms, and a forward current rating of 20 mA per channel. The devices are Pb‑free, UL‑approved, and offered in tape reels of 2 500 pieces.
| Package type | 12‑pin ultra shrink SOP |
|---|---|
| Package dimensions (L×W×H) | 4.4 mm × 5.6 mm × 2.5 mm |
| Current Transfer Ratio (CTR) | 200 % typical @ Ir=1 mA |
| Isolation voltage | 1500 V rms |
| Forward current (per channel) | 20 mA |
| Reverse voltage | 6 V |
| Collector‑to‑Emitter voltage | 70 V |
| Power dissipation | 40 mW per channel |
The typical CTR is 200 % when the LED current is 1 mA.
They are rated for a maximum isolation voltage of 1500 V rms.
The package measures 4.4 mm (L) × 5.6 mm (W) × 2.5 mm (H).
