This document provides an overview and user guide for the Light-to-Frequency Converter Evaluation Module, which allows evaluation of TAOS family of light-to-frequency converter optical sensors. The module interfaces with a host PC via a USB port and comes with device-specific daughterboards and LED light sources for versatile sensor evaluation.
The Light‑to‑Frequency Converter Evaluation Module (EVM) lets you evaluate TAOS optical sensors using a motherboard and six interchangeable daughterboards. The module connects to a Windows PC via USB and includes software for controlling LEDs and reading sensor output.
The host application provides a main window with control panels, daughterboard windows, and an optional strip‑chart display. You can select measurement modes (Frequency, Period, Long Period), adjust integration time, enable LED duty‑cycle control, and use features such as ambient subtraction and ratiometric measurements. The manual covers installation, hardware connections, software operation, and troubleshooting.

Insert the CD, then click Start → Run, type D:\setup (or the appropriate drive letter), and press Enter to launch the installer.
When checked, the software takes an extra measurement with the LED off, stores it as Ambient, and subtracts it from the signal reading.
