Atmel AT24HC02B EEPROM Datasheet

AT24HC02B is a 2048 bit serial electrically erasable and programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) organized as 256 words of 8 bits each. The device is optimized for use in many industrial and commercial applications where low-power and low-voltage operation are essential. The AT24HC02B is available in space-saving 8-lead PDIP, 8-lead JEDEC SOIC and 8-lead TSSOP packages and is accessed via a two-wire serial interface. In addition, the entire family is available in 1.8V (1.8V to 5.5V) version.

About this manual

The AT24HC02B EEPROM provides 2048 bits of non‑volatile memory organized as 256 × 8 bits. It operates from 1.8 V to 5.5 V and includes a write‑protect pin, Schmitt‑triggered inputs, and a two‑wire (I²C) serial interface. The device is offered in 8‑lead PDIP, SOIC and TSSOP packages.

The datasheet specifies electrical characteristics such as supply voltage range, clock rates (1 MHz at 5 V, 400 kHz at lower voltages), write‑cycle time (5 ms max), and endurance (1 million write cycles). Pin descriptions, memory organization, device addressing, and timing diagrams are provided for designers.

Frequently asked questions

What does the WP (write‑protect) pin do?

The WP pin provides hardware data protection; when tied to GND normal read/write operations are allowed, and when tied to VCC the protected half of the array is write‑protected.

How many write cycles can the AT24HC02B endure?

The device is rated for one million write cycles.

What is the maximum clock frequency for the device?

The EEPROM supports a 1 MHz clock at 5 V and a 400 kHz clock at 1.8 V, 2.5 V, or 2.7 V.
