This document describes the features and characteristics of the ADM1275 Hot-Swap Controller and Digital Power Monitor. The product controls supply voltages, has fast response time to short circuit, programmable current limit, accurate ADC, and drive for multiple external FETs.
The ADM1275 hot‑swap controller enables safe insertion and removal of circuit boards from a live backplane while providing real‑time voltage and current readback via a 12‑bit analog‑to‑digital converter. It features programmable current limit, soft‑start, foldback, and over‑voltage/under‑voltage protection, all controllable through a PMBus™ interface.
Typical applications include power monitoring and control for central office equipment, telecommunications, data‑communication gear, and PCs/servers. The device is offered in 20‑lead QSOP, 20‑lead LFCSP, and 16‑lead QSOP packages, with configurable PMBus addresses and multiple GPO/alert pins for system integration.
| Operating Voltage Range (VCC) | 2.95 V to 20 V |
|---|---|
| Under‑Voltage Lockout (UVLO) | 2.4 V to 2.7 V |
| Quiescent Current (I_CC) | 5 mA |
| UV Threshold (UV_TH) | 0.97 V to 1.03 V |
| OV Threshold (OV_TH) | 0.97 V to 1.03 V |
| Response Time to Short‑Circuit | 370 ns |
| Maximum PMBus Addresses | 4 |
The controller reacts within 370 ns to a short‑circuit condition.
Up to four unique PMBus addresses can be selected depending on the ADR pin configuration.
