About this manual

The Advant Crane Control GSU provides seamless integration of control, drives, information management, and low‑voltage equipment for grab ship unloaders. The system uses the Advant Crane Controller AC 800M as an overriding PLC, communicating with S800 I/O stations and field devices over fiber‑optic PROFIBUS DP buses, while drives are connected via a dedicated fiber‑optic drive bus.

A distributed PC‑based Crane Information Management System (CIMS) collects diagnostic and operational data, offering a Crane Maintenance Station in the electrical house and a Cabin View for the operator. The system also supports TCP/IP networking for extended communication with dock level stations or land stations, and includes the Grab Pendulum and Performance Optimizer (GPO) to automate the unloading cycle.

Frequently asked questions

What is the purpose of the Grab Pendulum and Performance Optimizer (GPO)?

GPO automates the unloading cycle by repeatedly performing all main movements, reducing operator fatigue and improving productivity.

What network is used for the Crane Information Management System?

CIMS units use a TCP/IP network to exchange data with the Advant Crane Controller and other stations.
