This document is the YSI 5300A Biological Oxygen Monitor System Operations Manual, which introduces the features and usage of the system.
The YSI 5300A Biological Oxygen Monitor System is a two‑channel instrument that measures oxygen uptake and evolution in biological samples using Clark‑type polarographic probes. The manual covers unpacking, system components, bath assemblies, probe preparation, software configuration, and data acquisition via RS‑232.
It also details calibration procedures, daily probe tests, troubleshooting steps, warranty information, and specifications such as system stability, power requirements, and output characteristics. Appendices provide gas solubility data and a list of interfering gases.
| System Stability | Maximum 5% of full scale per hour |
|---|---|
| System Linearity | ±1% of full scale |
| Ambient Temperature Range | 15 to 35 °C |
| Power Supply | 115 VAC ±10%, 60 Hz, 0.16 A |
| Recorder Output | 0 to 2.000 V corresponds to full scale |
| Display Resolution | 0.1 % |
| Instrument Size | 15.8 H × 28.5 W × 22 D cm |
The YSI 5300A has two independent channels, each with its own recorder output.
A 6 VDC power supply with at least 200 mA current is required.
Only the YSI 5331A standard probe and the YSI 5357/5358 micro probe are compatible; YSI 5331 probes are not.
Select the zero calibration screen, use a zero‑percent sample, and adjust the reading to 0.0 % using the up/down keys.
