About this manual

The AD7634 is an 18‑bit charge‑redistribution successive approximation register (SAR) analog‑to‑digital converter fabricated in Analog Devices' iCMOS high‑voltage process. It provides multiple programmable input ranges (5 V to 10 V, +10 V to 40 V) and three sampling modes (warp, normal, impulse) with throughputs of 670 kSPS, 570 kSPS, and 450 kSPS respectively.

The device includes internal reference and buffer, parallel and serial interfaces, and a range of protection features. Detailed pin configurations, timing specifications, absolute maximum ratings, and layout guidelines are provided to aid PCB design and system integration.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does the AD7634 consume at its maximum speed?

At 670 kSPS (warp mode) the device dissipates about 180 mW.

What input voltage ranges are available?

Four programmable ranges are provided: 5 V (10 V p‑p), +10 V (20 V p‑p), +5 V (20 V p‑p), and +10 V (40 V p‑p).

What is the recommended layout practice for analog and digital grounds?

Analog and digital ground planes should be kept separate and joined at a single point close to the AD7634.
