GE Fuji AF-300 Mini™ Error OC3: Overcurrent occurred when running at a constant speed.

GE Fuji AF-300 Mini Drive · taken from the manufacturer’s manual, pages cited

Fault codeOC3

Overcurrent occurred while running at constant speed, caused by heavy loads or excessive torque boost settings. The manual's first action is: “Measure the motor current with a meter, and observe the current variations. Use this information to decide if the current may exceed calculated design values for your system. SUGGESTED ACTIONS - Reduce excessive load or use a larger drive. CHECK Observe the current variations and check if there are any sudden changes in the current. SUGGESTED ACTIONS - If there are any sudden changes, make the load variation smaller or raise the drive capacity.”

What OC3 means

Overcurrent occurred when running at a constant speed. p. 85

Common causes

  • Loads were too heavy. p. 85
  • The value set for torque boost (F09) was too large. (F37 = 0, 1, 3, or 4) p. 85
  • During running at constant speed p. 85

What to do

  1. Measure the motor current with a meter, and observe the current variations. Use this information to decide if the current may exceed calculated design values for your system. SUGGESTED ACTIONS - Reduce excessive load or use a larger drive. CHECK Observe the current variations and check if there are any sudden changes in the current. SUGGESTED ACTIONS - If there are any sudden changes, make the load variation smaller or raise the drive capacity. p. 85
  2. Check that the output current decreases and that the motor does not stall if you set a lower value than the present one for F09. SUGGESTED ACTIONS - Lower the value for torque boost (F09) if the motor is not going to stall. p. 85
  3. Stops the motor to protect drive from an overcurrent due to a ground fault in the output circuit. p. 85

Before you service the product, read the safety instructions in the manual p. 4.

If OC3 is still not resolved

  • Contact a qualified electrician for wiring p. 5
“Wiring must only be performed only by a qualified electrician.”
  • Check that power is off before wiring p. 24
“Check that the power is turned off before proceeding with any wiring Failure to do so may result in electric shock.”
