The NAV Technology NV-MC316 digital compass provides high‑accuracy heading, pitch and roll data with RS‑232 output and low power consumption.
The NV-MC316 is a digital compass module that uses a magnetoresistive sensor and a two‑axis tilt sensor to deliver precise heading information even when tilted up to 40°. It includes an automatic calibration routine to compensate for magnetic disturbances and can output pitch, roll, and heading in NMEA0183 format via an RS‑232 interface.
The device operates from a 5 V nominal supply (6 V–15 V range) with a typical current draw of 75 mA, and offers a dynamic magnetic field range of up to ±60 000 nT. It features a 20 Hz update rate, low power consumption, and a compact size suitable for aviation, marine, robotics, and vehicle applications.

It uses an RS‑232 serial port with selectable baud rates from 1200 to 38400 bps.
The module is powered by a 5 VDC nominal supply and can operate from 6 V to 15 VDC.
The heading accuracy is better than ±0.5° RMS when the tilt is less than 75° and pitch less than 20°.
The device provides updated heading, pitch and roll data at 20 Hz.
