Technical manual for the Dauxi KS103-485 ultrasonic distance sensor, covering features, wiring, commands and configuration.
The KS103-485 is an ultrasonic distance sensor with real‑time temperature compensation, offering high‑precision measurements from 1 cm up to 8 m (or 10 m in I2C mode) and a detection frequency of up to 500 Hz. It communicates via an RS‑485 serial interface (default) or I²C when the MODE pin is grounded, and provides 20 configurable RS‑485 addresses.
The manual details power specifications, wiring diagrams, command sets for multi‑range detection, noise‑reduction levels, temperature measurement, and power‑saving modes. It also includes timing diagrams and example C code for STM32 and other micro‑controllers, enabling developers to integrate and control the sensor efficiently. This manual is written in Chinese.
| Working voltage | 3.0 V ~ 5.5 V |
|---|---|
| Typical working current | 1.6 – 2.7 mA @5 V |
| Maximum instantaneous current | 10.6 mA @5 V |
| Sleep current | 500 µA @5 V |
| Operating temperature range | -30 °C ~ +85 °C |
| Detection frequency | up to 500 Hz |
| RS‑485 address range | 0xd0 ~ 0xfe (20 addresses) |
| Noise‑reduction command levels | 0x70 – 0x75 |
Leave the MODE pin floating for RS‑485 operation; connect the MODE pin to 0 V before power‑up to enable I²C mode.
Send the command 0x71 to configure the module for second‑level noise reduction; wait at least 2 seconds after the command.
The sensor can measure distances from 1 cm up to 800 cm in RS‑485 mode and up to 1000 cm (10 m) in I²C mode.
