STMicroelectronics AVS08 Automatic Voltage Switch Datasheet

The AVS08 kit is an automatic mains selector (110/220V AC) to be used in SMPS < 200 W. It consists of 2 devices: the Controller and the TRIAC. The Controller is optimized for low power consumption and high security triggering of the TRIAC. The TRIAC is specially designed for this application, with optimization between sensitivity and dynamic parameters to reduce supply resistor losses and provide excellent immunity against disturbances.

About this manual

The AVS08 kit is an automatic mains selector designed for switching power supplies (SMPS) with power less than 200W. It consists of two main devices: a controller optimized for low consumption and high security triggering, and a specially designed TRIAC. The controller ensures that when the main power drops from 220V to 110V, the TRIAC control remains locked to the 220V mode to avoid high voltage spikes upon restoration. It offers full compatibility with 50/60Hz frequencies and includes features like an integrated voltage regulator and a parasitic filter.
