About this manual

The VIPER17 is an off-line converter from STMicroelectronics with an 800 V rugged power section, PWM control, two levels of overcurrent protection, overvoltage and overload protections, hysteretic thermal protection, soft-start and safe auto-restart after fault removal. It includes frequency jittering, burst mode operation and an embedded high voltage start-up circuit, and is offered in DIP-7 and SO16N narrow packages.

The datasheet covers the block diagram, typical power, pin settings, maximum ratings, thermal data, electrical characteristics, typical circuits and operation descriptions including OVP, OLP, brown-out protection and second-level overcurrent protection. It also provides package mechanical data and a revision history.
