About this manual

The LM138, LM238, and LM338 are three-terminal adjustable positive voltage regulators capable of supplying in excess of 5 A over an output range of 1.2 V to 32 V. These devices are supplied in a standard 3-lead TO-3 transistor package and require only two resistors to set the output voltage. A unique feature is time-dependent current limiting, which allows peak currents of up to 12 A for short periods to handle heavy transient loads.
