About this manual

The M48Z08 and M48Z18 are 8 K x 8 non-volatile static RAMs designed to be pin and function compatible with JEDEC standard 8 K x 8 SRAMs. These devices integrate an ultra-low power SRAM with a power-fail control circuit and a self-contained battery in a 28-pin CAPHAT DIP package to provide non-volatile memory storage.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between M48Z08 and M48Z18 regarding voltage?

M48Z08 operates with VCC = 4.75 to 5.5 V and VPFD = 4.5 to 4.75 V, while M48Z18 operates with VCC = 4.5 to 5.5 V and VPFD = 4.2 to 4.5 V.

How does the device protect data during power failure?

When VCC falls below approximately 3 V, the control circuitry connects the internal battery to maintain data until valid power returns.

Is the M48Z08/18 compatible with standard SRAM sockets?

Yes, it is pin and function compatible with JEDEC standard 8 K x 8 SRAMs and fits into many ROM, EPROM, and EEPROM sockets.
