About this manual

This manual covers the MPC-325-2 micromanipulator system, which consists of the MPC-200 controller, the ROE-200 rotary optical encoder input device, and two MP-225/M stepper motor manipulators. It provides instructions for electrical connections, initial setup, and operation of the main controls on both the controller and the input device.

The document also details the mechanical mounting procedures for the MP-225/M manipulators, including how to attach them to a stand or platform, set headstage angles, and minimize electrical noise. An addendum notes firmware updates regarding the calibration routine.

Frequently asked questions

What is the purpose of the CALIBRATE routine?

CALIBRATE is used to safely reestablish the zero location (0,0,0) during an experiment without risking damage to the pipette.

When should the CALIBRATE routine be used instead of CENTER?

CALIBRATE should be used when the unit is first set up to establish zero, or occasionally during normal operation to reestablish zero, especially if the EOT message is displayed.

What happens if power is turned off during CALIBRATE?

If the unit is turned off or STOP/SET is pressed during CALIBRATE, the unit will not be correctly initialized and power must be cycled to run it again.
