This document introduces video signal standards and related switch technologies
As the demand for displaying PC graphics on larger screens increases, there is a growing interest in using analog switches to route video signals. This document addresses the need by first describing various video signal standards before explaining key parameters for switching applications.
The text details different video formats such as Composite (CVBS), Y/C (S-video), and Component interfaces, comparing their quality levels based on encoding and wire pairs used. It also covers computer signal interfaces like VGA and XGA resolutions.
They are used to route RGB data or component/composite video data from different sources to different displays, or to feed encoders with video data.
The formats are composite (or CVBS) using one wire pair, Y/C (or S-video) using two wire pairs, and component using three wire pairs.
