The Aprilaire Model 5000 is a whole-house air cleaner that utilizes patented 'electrically enhanced air filtration' technology to permanently trap small particles, including those the size of bacteria and viruses. It is designed to be installed by a heating and air conditioning contractor as part of the home's heating and cooling system.
The unit features an exclusive Air Cleaner Control that allows users to actively manage air cleaning cycles. Users can select from options such as Constant Cleaning, Automatic cleaning, Event Clean, or a 24-hour cycle for allergies. The system includes a filter life indicator that tracks usage and alerts the user when it is time to replace the filter media.
The filter generally lasts a year, but the frequency is selectable based on usage. Settings range from once per year to every 3 months.
The available options are Constant Cleaning, Automatic (30 min./hr), Event Clean (3 hour cycle), and Allergies (24 hour cycle).
Bars on the display indicate usage increments of 20%. When all bars are filled and begin to flash, it is time to change the filter.
