This document introduces the features and characteristics of Varian Cary 50 UV-Vis spectrophotometer for measuring microlitre volume samples.
This document evaluates the reproducibility and light throughput of the Varian Cary 50 UV-Vis spectrophotometer when fitted with a Hellma Traycell™ ultra-microvolume cuvette. The study aims to demonstrate the system's accuracy in measuring microlitre volumes of chemical and biological samples, such as DNA.
The results indicate that the Cary 50/Traycell system provides significantly higher light throughput compared to competitor systems, resulting in a higher photometric range. Furthermore, the removal and replacement of the Traycell has negligible effects on data, demonstrating excellent reproducibility with a maximum Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) of 1.2% across the 200-1000 nm wavelength range.
| Wavelength Range | 200-1000 nm |
|---|---|
| Maximum RSD | 1.2% |
| Sample Volume | < 4 pL |
The system demonstrates excellent reproducibility with a maximum Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) of 1.2%.
The system is ideal for measuring sample volumes that are less than 4 pL.
Adjustments were made to obtain light transmission values greater than 25% at 500 nm.
The results showed a maximum RSD of 1.2% across the wavelength range 200-1000 nm.
