About this manual

The standalone command-line utility, migprofile.exe, is designed to migrate Windows XP user profiles (V1 format) to Windows 7 user profiles (V2 format). This process allows users moving from physical or virtual Windows XP computers to Windows 7 virtual desktops in a VMware View environment to retain their personal settings and data via the View Persona Management feature.

The utility supports migrating local V1 profiles on Windows XP systems and remote V1 profiles stored on CIFS network shares. It performs a one-time migration of user profile data and registry settings without merging existing V2 profiles if they are already present.
