This document describes general concepts, best practices, and how to use complementary VMware products to monitor data with vFabric AppInsight.
VMware vFabric AppInsight is a performance management product designed for application owners deploying applications on hybrid clouds and in dynamic virtual environments. It monitors the availability, performance, and cost of applications by collecting and analyzing metrics to generate key performance indicators (KPIs). The system allows users to focus on problematic areas across code, middleware, and infrastructure levels.
This document supports vFabric AppInsight 1.1 and all subsequent versions until the document is replaced by a new edition.
Metrics gathered over a 10-minute time period are stored in the AppInsight database for 1 week.
You must add at least one component to an application so that AppInsight can determine the entire application structure.
