This datasheet introduces the characteristics and features of the SMH4811A product, including power supply range, card insertion detection support, control power on, host voltage monitoring, undervoltage and overvoltage detection, programmable UV filter, programmable power good delay, programmable circuit breaker function, programmable overcurrent filter, programmable quick-trip circuit breaker values, 2.5V and 5.0V reference outputs, and external monitor function expansion.
The SMH4811A hot‑swap controller manages power insertion for plug‑in cards using a wide supply range (+20 V to >+500 V) and provides under‑voltage, over‑voltage, and over‑current protection. It drives an external MOSFET switch (VGATE) and generates a Power‑Good (PG#) signal to enable downstream DC‑DC converters.
The device includes programmable reference outputs (2.5 V and 5 V), pin‑detect inputs, and optional features such as filter delays, Quick‑Trip circuit‑breaker, current regulation and a non‑volatile fault latch. All pins are limited to 12 V relative to Vss and the package is offered in a 16‑pin SOIC.
| Supply Range | +20 VDC to >+500 VDC |
|---|---|
| Operating Temperature | -40 °C to 85 °C |
| Reference Output 2.5 V | 2.5 V |
| Reference Output 5.0 V | 5.0 V |
| Maximum Pin Voltage | 12 V (relative to Vss) |
| Circuit‑Breaker Trip Threshold | 50 mV |
The VGATE output activates an external power MOSFET switch and supplies a constant‑current output (about 100 A typical).
