About this manual

The VP-1000A is an advanced CMOS LSI chip designed for voice and sound record/playback applications. It features 32K × 8 direct memory addressing (expandable), a single 5 V supply, CVSD modulation, and sampling rates from 24 kbps to 128 kbps. The device can operate stand‑alone, interfacing directly with external SRAM for recording or with ROM/EPROM for playback‑only use.

Typical applications include voice memo recorders, sound‑effects generators, and digital announcers for consumer, industrial, security, and telecommunications products. The chip is offered in a 40‑pin DIP or 48‑pin QFP package and can be expanded to unlimited memory length by adding an external counter.
