This document mainly introduces the LT1580/LT1580-2.5 low dropout regulator, which has a low dropout voltage of 540mV and a fast transient response.
The LT1580 series is a low‑dropout regulator designed for modern microprocessor power supplies. It offers a very low dropout of 540 mV at 7 A, 1 mV load regulation, and a remote‑sense pin for accurate load regulation.
Typical applications include 5 V‑to‑2.5 V conversion for Pentium and PowerPC processors, dual‑supply operation, and single‑supply configurations. The device is available in 7‑lead plastic T0‑220 and 5‑lead plastic packages with recommended output capacitors of 22 µF tantalum or larger for stability.
| Load Regulation | ≤ 1 mV |
|---|---|
| Maximum Output Current | 7 A |
| Remote Sense Pin | Provided |
The load regulation is less than 1 mV over the full load range.
The device can deliver up to 7 A of output current.
A remote‑sense pin is provided to sense the voltage directly at the load.
