Linear Technology LT1083/84/85 Fixed Regulators Datasheet

The LT1083/84/85 fixed positive output low dropout regulators provide 3A, 5A and 7.5A with higher efficiency than currently available devices. They have a dropout voltage of 1V, line regulation of 0.015% and load regulation of 0.1%, and they are 100% thermally limited functionally tested. They are available in adjustable versions.

About this manual

The LT1083/84/85 family are three‑terminal low‑dropout regulators offering 3.3 V, 3.6 V, 5 V and 12 V output options with output currents of 3 A, 5 A or 7.5 A. They feature low dropout (max 1.5 V at full load), tight line regulation (0.015 %) and load regulation (0.1 %).

These devices require an output capacitor for stability (minimum 10 µF, typically 150 µF electrolytic or 22 µF solid tantalum) and include protection features such as short‑circuit, safe‑area and thermal shutdown. The datasheet provides absolute maximum ratings, electrical characteristics, typical performance curves, and package dimensions.
