This document is about a programming card for handheld scanners. It contains frequently-used programming bar code labels, and users can configure scanners by scanning these labels.
The programming card provides a set of frequently‑used bar‑code labels that, when scanned, configure the handheld CCD/laser scanner. Configuration options include USB and RS‑232 communication settings, scanning modes, and beep feedback. All changes are stored in non‑volatile memory, so they persist after power is removed.
The document also details laser safety requirements, compatible operating systems for USB mode, default communication parameters, and special notes about the required USB update cable. Warranty and liability statements are included at the end of the guide.
| Default RS-232 baud rate | 9600 |
|---|---|
| Data bits (RS-232) | 8 |
| Parity (RS-232) | Mark |
| Stop bits (RS-232) | 1 |
| Message terminator (RS-232) | CRI/LF |
| USB compatible operating systems | Windows 98, Windows NT 5.0, Mac OS 8 and later |
| Required USB update cable part number | 171-10U301-200 |
The USB mode works with Windows 98, Windows NT 5.0 and Mac OS 8 or later, as these systems have built‑in USB drivers.
Configuration is saved in non‑volatile memory, so it is retained even when power is removed from the scanner.
The factory defaults are 9600 baud, 8 data bits, mark parity, 1 stop bit, and a CRI/LF message terminator.
The laser complies with IEC 60825‑1 for a Class I laser product and meets applicable CDRH requirements.
