SY58020/21/22U is a 1:4 fanout buffer produced by Micrel, with CML, LVPECL and 400mV LVPECL outputs. The buffer can process clock signals as fast as 6GHz and 5.5GHz, and can directly interface with LVPECL, CML and LVDS differential signals (AC coupled or DC coupled).
The SY58020U, SY58021U, and SY58022U evaluation boards provide a convenient platform for testing Micrel's high‑speed 1:4 fanout buffers. The boards support CML, LVPECL, and LVDS differential inputs and offer both AC‑coupled and DC‑coupled configurations. They are built on a 16‑pin MLF package and operate from 2.5 V (+5 %) or 3.3 V (+10 %) supplies.
The manual describes the functional description, signal I/O specifications, power‑supply options, AC‑ and DC‑coupled output configurations, board layout, and step‑by‑step test procedures for jitter and eye‑diagram measurements. A full bill of materials and schematic diagrams are also included.
| Minimum input signal | 100 mV |
|---|---|
| Power‑supply range | 2.5 V + 5 % and 3.3 V + 10 % |
| Operating temperature range | -40 °C to +85 °C |
| Output swing (CML) | 400 mV into 50 Ω |
| Output swing (LVPECL) | 800 mV (SY58021U) or 400 mV (SY58022U) into 50 Ω |
| Jitter performance | <10 ps total jitter, <1 ps RMS jitter, <10 ps deterministic jitter |
| Package | 16‑pin MLF (3 mm × 3 mm) |
Add 0.1 µF AC‑coupling capacitors to C6‑C7, C8‑C11, and C12‑C13 as shown in the schematic.
The SY58020U exhibits less than 10 ps total jitter, less than 1 ps RMS jitter, and less than 10 ps deterministic jitter.
