MAXIM MAX3480A/MAX3480B Complete Isolated 3.3V RS-485/RS-422 Data Interface handbook
The MAX3480A/B are electrically isolated RS-485/422 data communication interfaces. Transceivers, optocouplers and a transformer are all included in one low-cost, 28-pin DIP package. A single +3.3V supply on the logic side powers both sides of the interface. The MAX3480B features reduced-slew-rate drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, allowing error-free data transmission at data rates up to 250kbps. The MAX3480A's driver slew rate is not limited, allowing transmission rates up to 2.5Mbps. These devices typically draw 180mA of quiescent sup- ply current. The MAX3480B provides a low-power shut- down mode in which it consumes only 0.2µA. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if the input is open circuit. The MAX3480A/B typically withstand 1600VRMS (1 minute) or 2000VRMS (1 second). Their isolated inputs and outputs meet RS-485/422 specifications.

The MAX481E, MAX483E, MAX485E, MAX487E, MAX491E, and MAX1487E are low-power transceivers for RS-485 and RS-422 communications in harsh environments. Each driver output and receiver input is protected against ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks, without latchup. These parts contain one driver and one receiver. The MAX483E, MAX487E, MAX488E, and MAX489E feature reduced slew-rate drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, thus allowing error-free data transmission up to 250kbps. The driver slew rates of the MAX481E, MAX485E, MAX490E, MAX491E, and MAX1487E are not limited, allowing them to transmit up to 2.5Mbps. These transceivers draw as little as 120µA supply current when unloaded or when fully loaded with disabled drivers (see Selector Guide). Additionally, the MAX481E, MAX483E, and MAX487E have a low-current shutdown mode in which they consume only 0.5µA. All parts operate from a single +5V supply. Drivers are short-circuit current limited, and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places their outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if the input is open circuit. The MAX487E and MAX1487E feature quarter-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 128 transceivers on the bus. The MAX488E–MAX491E are designed for full-duplex communications, while the MAX481E, MAX48
MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS MAX3668† +3.3V 622Mbps SDH/SONET Laser Driver with Automatic Power Control handbook
The MAX3668 is a complete, +3.3V laser driver with automatic power control (APC) circuitry for SDH/SONET applications up to 622Mbps. It accepts differential PECL inputs, provides bias and modulation currents, and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. An APC feedback loop is incorporated to maintain a constant average optical power over temperature and lifetime. The wide modulation current range of 5mA to 75mA and bias current of 1mA to 80mA are easy to program, making this product ideal for use in various SDH/SONET applications. The MAX3668 also provides enable control and a failure-monitor output to indicate when the APC loop is unable to maintain the average optical power. The MAX3668 is available in a 5mm 32-pin TQFP package as well as in dice.
MAXIM MAX1480A/B/C/MAX1490A/B Complete Isolated RS-485/RS-422 Data Interface handbook
The MAX1480A/MAX1480B/MAX1480C/MAX1490A/MAX1490B are complete, electrically isolated, RS-485/RS-422 data-communications interface solutions in a hybrid microcircuit.
MAXIM MAX3080 MAX3089 Manual
The MAX3080–MAX3089 high-speed transceivers are devices for RS-485/RS-422 communication, consisting of one driver and one receiver. These devices feature fail-safe circuitry, which guarantees a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. They also feature reduced slew-rate drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, allowing error-free data transmission up to 115kbps. The different models of the devices have different driver output slew-rate limits, enabling transmit speeds up to 10Mbps. These transceivers typically draw 375µA of supply current when unloaded, or when fully loaded with the drivers disabled. All devices have a 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance that allows up to 256 transceivers on the bus. The different models are intended for half-duplex or full-duplex communications, with the MAX3089 selectable between half-duplex and full-duplex operation and featuring independently programmable receiver and transmitter.

MAXIM MAX3097E/MAX3098E Manual
The MAX3097E/MAX3098E are three-channel high-speed RS-485/RS-422 receivers with fault-detection circuitry and fault-status outputs. The receivers' inputs have fault thresholds that detect when the part is not in a valid state. The MAX3097E/MAX3098E indicate when a receiver input is in an open-circuit condition, short-circuit condition, or outside the common-mode range. They also generate a fault indication when the differential input voltage goes below a preset threshold. See Ordering Information or the Electrical Characteristics for threshold values. The fault circuitry includes a capacitor-programmable delay to ensure that there are no erroneous fault conditions even at slow edge rates. Each receiver is capable of accepting data at rates up to 32Mbps.
MAXIM MAX9157 Manual
The MAX3157 is a high CMRR RS-485/RS-422 data communications interface providing ±50V isolation in a hybrid microcircuit. A single +5V supply on the logic side powers both sides of the interface, with external ±50V capacitors transferring power from the logic side to the isolated side. Each MAX3157 contains one transmitter and one receiver and is guaranteed to operate at data rates up to 250kbps. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic high receiver output if the inputs are open, shorted, or connected to a terminated transmission line with all drivers disabled. The MAX3157 typically draws 25mA of supply current when unloaded or when fully loaded with the driver disabled. Supply current drops to 25µA when the device is placed in shutdown mode. The device is pin selectable between half- and full-duplex mode and also features independently programmable receiver and transmitter output phase through separate pins. The MAX3157 is a low-cost replacement for opto-isolated transceivers. For fully isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceivers, refer to the MAX1480 family data sheet.
