MAX9015/MAX9016/MAX9017/MAX9018/MAX9019/MAX9020 are ultra-low power comparators from Texas Instruments, with ultra-low voltage supply range and ultra-low current consumption, which can be applied to battery monitoring and management systems.

The MAX9600/MAX9601/MAX9602 ultra-high-speed comparators feature extremely low propagation delay (500ps). These dual and quad comparators minimize propagation delay skew (10ps) and are designed for low propagation delay dispersion (30ps). These features make them ideal for applications where high-fidelity tracking of narrow pulses and low timing dispersion is critical. The differential input stage accepts a wide range of signals in the common-mode range from (VEE + 3V) to (VCC - 2V). The outputs are complementary digital signals, compatible with ECL and PECL systems, and provide sufficient current to directly drive transmission lines terminated in 50Ω. The MAX9600/MAX9601 dual-channel ECL and dual-channel PECL output comparators incorporate latch enable (LE_, LE_), and hysteresis (HYS_). The complementary latch-enable control permits tracking, track-hold, or sample-hold mode of operations. The latch enables can be driven with standard ECL logic for MAX9600 and PECL logic for MAX9601. The MAX9602 quad-channel PECL output comparator is ideal for high-density packaging in limited board space. The MAX9600/MAX9601 are available in 20-pin TSSOP packages, and the MAX9602 is offered in a 24-pin TSSOP package. The MAX9600/MAX9601/MAX9602 are specified for operation from -40°C to +85°C.

The MAX921 series is a family of single-supply, low-voltage comparators with ultra-low power consumption. The series’ static current is less than 4 µA over temperature (MAX921/MAX922), and includes an internal 1.182 V ±1% voltage reference, programmable hysteresis, and TTL/CMOS outputs that sink and source current. Ideal for 3 V or 5 V single-supply applications, the MAX921 series operates from a single +2.5 V to +11 V supply (or a ±1.25 V to ±5 V dual supply), and each comparator’s input voltage range swings from the negative supply rail to within 1.3 V of the positive supply. The MAX921 series’ unique output stage continuously sources as much as 40 mA. By eliminating power-supply glitches that commonly occur when comparators change logic states, the MAX921 series minimizes parasitic feedback, making them easier to use. The single MAX921 and dual MAX923 provide a unique and simple method for adding hysteresis without feedback and complicated equations, simply by using the HYST pin and two resistors.

MAX907/MAX908/MAX909 are high-speed, ultra-low-power, single-supply TTL comparators designed for use in systems powered from a single +5V supply; the MAX909 also accepts dual ±5V sup- plies. Their 40ns propagation delay (with 5mV input overdrive) is achieved with a power consumption of only 3.5mW per comparator. The wide input common- mode range extends from 200mV below ground (below the negative supply rail for the MAX909) to within 1.5V of the positive supply rail. Because they are micropower, high-speed compara- tors that operate from a single +5V supply, they are ideal for use in systems requiring high performance, low power and single-supply operation, such as micro- processors, digital signal processors, memories, data converters and power management circuits.

The MAX965–MAX970 single/dual/quad micropower comparators feature rail-to-rail inputs and outputs, and fully specified single-supply operation down to +1.6V. These devices draw less than 5µA per comparator and have open-drain outputs that can be pulled beyond VCC to 6V (max) above ground. In addition, their rail-to-rail input common-mode voltage range makes these comparators suitable for ultra-low-voltage operation. A +1.6V to +5.5V single-supply operating voltage range makes the MAX965 family of comparators ideal for 2-cell battery-powered applications. The MAX965/MAX967/ MAX968/MAX969 offer programmable hysteresis and an internal 1.235V ±1.5% reference. All devices are available in either space-saving 8-pin µMAX® or 16-pin QSOP packages.

The MAX971–MAX974 and MAX981–MAX984 single/dual/quad low-voltage comparators feature the lowest power consumption available. These micropower devices draw less than 4µA supply current over temperature (MAX971/MAX972/MAX981/MAX982), and include an internal 1.182V ±1% (MAX971/MAX973/ MAX974) or ±2% (MAX981–MAX984) voltage reference and programmable hysteresis. Ideal for 3V or 5V single-supply applications, these devices operate from a single 2.5V to 11V supply (or ±1.25V to ±5.5V dual supplies), and each comparator’s input voltage ranges from the negative supply rail to within 1.3V of the positive supply. The single MAX971/MAX981 and the dual MAX973/ MAX982/MAX983 provide a unique, simple method for adding hysteresis without feedback or complicated equations, simply by using the HYST pin plus two resistors. The MAX971–MAX974 and MAX981–MAX984’s open- drain outputs permit wire-ORed configurations. Thanks to an 11V output range and separate GND pin for the output transistor (MAX971/MAX974, MAX981/MAX984), these devices are ideal for level translators and bipolar to single- ended converters. The MAX9644/MAX9645/MAX9646 are small, single com- parators, ideal for a wide variety of portable electronics applications such as cell phones, media players, and notebooks that have extremely tight board space and power constraints.

The MAX9065 is an ultra-small, low-power, window comparator ideal for a wide variety of portable electronics applications such as cell phones, portable media players, and notebooks that have extremely tight board space and power constraints. It comes in both a 4-bump UCSP package with a 1mm x 1mm footprint (as small as two 0402 resistors) and a 5-pin SOT23 package. The MAX9065 features a common-mode input range of -0.3V to +5.5V independent of supply voltage. The input current goes to zero when the MAX9065 is powered down (VCC = 0). Additionally, the MAX9065 features high RF immunity. The MAX9065 has a push-pull output and consumes only 1µA (max) supply current. The MAX9065 operates down to 1.0V over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Applications include cell phones, portable media players, electronic toys, notebook computers, and portable medical devices.

The MAX9039–MAX9043 and MAX9050–MAX9053 feature combinations of low-power comparators and precision voltage references. Their operating voltage range makes them ideal for both 3V and 5V systems. The MAX9039/MAX9040/MAX9041/MAX9050/MAX9051 have a single comparator and reference consuming only 40µA of supply current. The MAX9042/MAX9043/ MAX9052/MAX9053 have dual comparators and one reference, and consume only 55µA of supply current. Low-voltage operation and low supply current make these devices ideal for battery-operated systems. The comparators feature rail-to-rail inputs and outputs, with a common-mode input voltage range that extends 250mV beyond the supply rails. Input bias current is typically 1.0pA, and input offset voltage is typically 0.5mV. Internal hysteresis ensures clean output switching, even with slow-moving input signals. The output stage features a unique design that limits supply current surges while switching, virtually eliminating supply glitches typical of many other comparators. This design also minimizes overall power consumption under dynamic conditions. The comparator outputs have rail-to-rail, push-pull output stages that sink and source up to 8mA. The propagation delay is 400ns, even with the low-operating supply current. The reference output voltage is set to 1.23V in the MAX9039, to 2.048V in the MAX9040–MAX9043, and to 2.500V in the MAX9050–MAX9053. The MAX9040– MAX9043 and the MAX9050–MAX9053 are offered in two grades.

MAX2691 is a low-noise amplifier from Maxim, which is designed for GPS L2 applications. Designed in Maxim’s advanced SiGe process, the device achieves high gain and low noise figure while maximizing the input-referred 1dB compression point and the 3rd-order intercept point. The MAX2691 provides a high gain of 17.5dB and sub 1dB noise figure. The device operates from a +1.6V to +3.6V single sup- ply. The optional shutdown feature in the device reduces the typical supply current to 4FA. The device is available in a very small, lead-free, RoHS-compliant, 0.86mm x 0.86mm x 0.65mm wafer-level package (WLP).

The MAX2687/MAX2689/MAX2694 are low-noise amplifiers designed for GPS L1, Galileo, and GLONASS applications. They feature high gain, low noise figure, and wide supply voltage range.
