MAX3420E is a microprocessor-independent USB solution from Microchip that complies with USB Specification Revision 2.0 (Full-Speed Operation) and integrates a full-speed USB transceiver with ±15kV ESD protection and programmable USB connect and disconnect functionality.

The MAX1762/MAX1791 PWM step-down controllers provide high efficiency, excellent transient response, and high DC output accuracy needed for stepping down high-voltage batteries to generate low-voltage CPU core, I/O, and chipset RAM supplies in notebook computers and PDAs. Maxim's proprietary Quick-PWM™ pulse-width modulator is a free-running constant on-time type with input feed-forward. Its high operating frequency (300kHz) allows small external components to be utilized in PC board area-critical applications such as subnotebook computers and smart phones. PWM operation occurs at heavy loads, and automatic switchover to pulse-skip- ping operation occurs at lighter loads. The external high-side p-channel and low-side n-channel MOSFETs require no bootstrap components. The MAX1762/ MAX1791 are simple, easy to compensate, and do not have the noise sensitivity of conventional fixed-frequen- cy current-mode PWMs. These devices achieve high efficiency at a reduced cost by eliminating the current-sense resistor found in traditional current-mode PWMs. Efficiency is further enhanced by their ability to drive synchronous-rectifier MOSFETs. The MAX1762/MAX1791 come in a 10-pin µMAX package and offer two fixed voltages (Dual Mode™) for each device, 1.8V/2.5V/adj (MAX1762) and 3.3V/5.0V/adj (MAX1791).

The MAX038 is a high-frequency, precision function generator producing accurate, high-frequency triangle, sawtooth, sine, square, and pulse waveforms with a minimum of external components.

MAX9030/MAX9031/MAX9032/MAX9034 single/dual/quad comparators are optimized for single-supply applications from +2.5V to +5.5V but can also be oper- ated from dual supplies. These comparators have a 188ns propagation delay and consume 35µA of supply current per comparator over the -40°C to +125°C oper- ating temperature range. The combination of low- power, single-supply operation down to +2.5V, and ultra-small footprint makes these devices ideal for portable applications. The MAX9030 is a low-cost single comparator with shutdown. The MAX9031, MAX9032, and MAX9034 are low-cost single, dual, and quad comparators without shutdown, respectively. The comparators’ 4mV of built- in hysteresis provides noise immunity and prevents oscillations even with a slow-moving input signal. The input common-mode range extends from the negative supply to within 1.1V of the positive supply. The design of the comparator output stage substantially reduces switching current during output transitions, virtually eliminating power-supply glitches. The MAX9030 single comparator with shutdown is avail- able in the space-saving 6-pin SC70 and SOT23 pack- ages. The MAX9031 single comparator is available in tiny 5-pin SC70 and SOT23 packages. The MAX9032 dual comparator is available in 8-pin SOT23 and µMAX pack- ages, and the MAX9034 quad comparator is available in a 14-pin TSSOP package.

The MAX8526/MAX8527/MAX8528 low-dropout linear regulators operate from input voltages as low as 1.425V and are able to deliver up to 2A of continuous output current with a maximum dropout voltage of only 200mV. The output voltage can be set from 0.5V to (VIN - 0.2V) and is 1.4% accurate over load and line variations, from 0°C to +85°C

The MAX4410 stereo headphone driver is designed for portable equipment where board space is at a premium. The MAX4410 uses a unique, patented, DirectDrive architecture to produce a ground-referenced output from a single supply, eliminating the need for large DC-blocking capacitors, saving cost, board space, and component height. The MAX4410 delivers up to 80mW per channel into a 16Ω load and has low 0.003% THD + N. A high power-supply rejection ratio (90dB at 1kHz) allows this device to operate from noisy digital supplies without an additional linear regulator. The MAX4410 includes ±8kV ESD protection on the headphone outputs. Comprehensive click-and-pop circuitry suppresses audible clicks and pops on startup and shutdown. Independent left/right, low-power shutdown controls make it possible to optimize power savings in mixed mode, mono/stereo applications. The MAX4410 operates from a single 1.8V to 3.6V supply, consumes only 7mA of supply current, has short-circuit and thermal overload protection, and is specified over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range. The MAX4410 is available in a tiny (2mm x 2mm x 0.6mm), 16-bump chip-scale package (UCSP™) and a 14-pin TSSOP package.

MAX4080/MAX4081 high-side current-sense amplifiers are high-voltage current-sense amplifiers with an input voltage range that extends from 4.5V to 76V making them ideal for telecom, automotive, backplane, and other systems where high-voltage cur- rent monitoring is critical

The DS18B20 Digital Thermometer provides 9 to 12–bit centigrade temperature measurements and has an alarm function with nonvolatile user-programmable upper and lower trigger points. The DS18B20 communicates over a 1-Wire bus that by definition requires only one data line (and ground) for communication with a central microprocessor. It has an operating temperature range of –55°C to +125°C (–67°F to +257°F).

The MAX1377/MAX1379/MAX1383 feature two simulta- neous-sampling, low-power, 12-bit ADCs with serial interface and internal voltage reference.

The MAX1708 sets a new standard of space savings for high-power, step-up DC-DC conversion. It delivers up to 10W at a fixed (3.3V or 5V) or adjustable (2.5V to 5.5V) output, using an on-chip power MOSFET from a +0.7V to +5V supply. Fixed-frequency PWM operation ensures that the switching noise spectrum is constrained to the 600kHz fundamental and its harmonics, allowing easy postfiltering for noise reduction. External clock synchronization capability allows for even tighter noise spectrum control. Quiescent power consumption is less than 1mW to extend operating time in battery-powered systems. Two control inputs (ONA, ONB) allow simple push-on, push-off control through a single momentary push-button switch, as well as conventional on/off logic control. The MAX1708 also features programmable soft-start and current limit for design flexibility and optimum performance with batteries. The maximum RMS switch current rating is 5A. MAX1737 is a switch-mode lithium-ion (Li+) battery charger that charges one to four cells. It provides a regulated charging current and a regulated voltage with only a ±0.8% total voltage error at the battery ter- minals.

The MAX8556/MAX8557 are low-dropout linear regulators that can operate from input voltages as low as 1.425V and deliver up to 4A of continuous output current with a typical dropout voltage of only 100mV. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.5V to VIN - 0.2V. These regulators use an internal p-channel MOSFET pass transistor, resulting in a low supply current of 800µA typical, independent of the load current and dropout voltage. The use of a p-channel MOSFET eliminates the need for an additional external supply or a noisy internal charge pump. Additional features include logic-controlled shutdown mode, built-in soft-start, short-circuit protection with foldback current limit, and thermal overload protection. The MAX8556 features a POK output that transitions high when the regulator output is within ±10% of its nominal output voltage. The MAX8557 offers a power-on reset output that transitions high 140ms after the output has achieved 90% of its nominal output voltage. The MAX8556/MAX8557 are available in a 16-pin thin QFN 5mm x 5mm package with exposed paddle.
