Promise Technology FastTrak SX4000 Quick Start Guide
This guide walks you through unpacking, installing, and configuring the FastTrak SX4000 RAID controller. It covers memory module testing, card installation, hard drive setup, creating disk arrays using the FastBuild BIOS utility, and installing software drivers. The guide includes warnings about data backup and static electricity precautions.
The FastTrak SX4000 supports RAID levels including 0, 1, 0+1, 5, and JBOD. It requires a compatible SDRAM DIMM (64–256 MB) and supports up to four Ultra ATA hard drives. The onboard FastBuild utility is used to create the first array, and software drivers are installed via CD or downloaded from the Promise website.
