The ST7070 is a low‑power dot‑matrix LCD controller/driver supporting 5 × 8 characters, serial and parallel interfaces, and a wide voltage range.
The ST7070 controller/driver integrates display RAM, character generator ROM/RAM, and LCD driver circuitry on a single chip, enabling compact designs for portable devices. It supports both 4‑bit and 8‑bit parallel buses as well as high‑speed 3‑line or 4‑line SPI serial interfaces.
The device operates from 2.7 V to 5.5 V for low‑power applications and can drive up to 80 characters (80 × 9‑bit RAM) with 496 built‑in fonts. Multiple ST7070 chips can be cascaded to expand display size, and the chip offers programmable duty cycles of 1/8 or 1/16.
