About this manual

The Metrode A-10 and A-12 data sheets describe welding consumables designed for elevated‑temperature service on 0.5% Mo and 1¼Cr‑½Mo creep‑resisting steels. They are intended for use in power‑plant piping, turbine castings, boiler super‑heaters and related high‑temperature applications.

The documents list product types such as MMA electrodes, solid TIG/MIG wires and fluxes, providing composition, mechanical properties (tensile strength, proof stress, elongation, hardness), recommended pre‑heat and post‑weld heat‑treatment temperatures, operating parameters, packaging dimensions and storage guidelines.

Frequently asked questions

What pre‑heat temperature is recommended for A‑12 electrodes?

Pre‑heat should be 150 °C–250 °C (BS EN), 200 °C–300 °C (BS), 160 °C–190 °C (AWS) or 200 °C–350 °C (DIN).

What post‑weld heat‑treatment (PWHT) temperature is typical for A‑12 consumables?

PWHT is typically performed at 690 °C, with the time depending on section thickness.

How should exposed electrodes be re‑dried?

Redry at 250 °C–300 °C for 1–2 h to keep H₂ < 10 ml/100 g, or at 300 °C–350 °C for 1–2 h to keep H₂ < 5 ml/100 g.

What are the recommended operating voltage limits for the wires?

The wires can be used with DC positive or AC, with an open‑circuit voltage of at least 70 V.
