Technical datasheet for the Cherry Semiconductor CS5150 4‑bit synchronous buck controller.
The CS5150 is a 4‑bit synchronous dual N‑Channel buck controller designed for high‑density, high‑speed logic applications. It operates over a 4.25‑16 V input range, provides a 100 ns transient response, and includes features such as a 4‑bit DAC, programmable soft‑start, and lossless short‑circuit protection.
The device is offered in 16‑pin SOIC and DIP packages and uses Cherry’s proprietary V2™ control method, which combines a slow feedback loop for DC accuracy with a fast ramp‑based loop for rapid line and load regulation. Output voltage can be set via the on‑board DAC (2.14‑3.54 V) or by using an external resistor divider in adjust mode.
| Output voltage range (DAC) | 2.14‑3.54 V |
|---|---|
| Transient response | 100 ns |
| Output tolerance | 1.0 % |
| Gate rise/fall time | 30 ns |
| Package options | 16‑pin SOIC and DIP |
| Maximum on‑time timer | 30 µs |
The CS5150 achieves a 100 ns transient response to load changes.
Output voltage is set with the on‑board 4‑bit DAC (2.14 V to 3.54 V) or, if all DAC pins are left open, the device enters adjust mode allowing an external resistor divider to set the voltage.
It provides lossless hiccup‑mode short‑circuit protection and built‑in over‑voltage protection.
