Press the record/stop key (12) while the device is in standby; the screen lights up and recording begins.
Open the main menu with the menu key (11), then use the fast‑forward (6) or fast‑rewind (7) keys to select LP, SP, or HP mode before pressing the record/stop key (12) to start recording.
Make sure two AAA batteries are correctly installed, then press and hold the play/stop key (8) for a few seconds to power on the device.
