This document provides instructions and features of the HP Photosmart Pro B8800 series, produced by HPDC in 2007. It includes a quick start tutorial and steps for unpacking, connecting power, installing ink cartridges and printheads. Users are reminded to purchase a USB cable separately. The B8800 series is a high-quality printer.
This Quick Start Guide walks you through the initial setup of the HP Photosmart Pro B8800 printer, covering unpacking, installing ink cartridges and printheads, and loading the supplied HP Advanced Photo paper. It also explains how to run the printer's automatic calibration and install the driver software from the included CD.
Follow the illustrated steps to connect the power cord, insert the eight ink cartridges and four printheads, load paper, and start calibration. While the printer calibrates (30–40 minutes), you can install the software; the USB cable should only be connected when the installer prompts you to do so.
| Ink cartridges | 8 |
|---|---|
| Printheads | 4 |
| Calibration time | 30–40 minutes |
| Paper type | HP Advanced Photo paper |

Shake each cartridge six times, open the ink cartridge door, insert each cartridge into its color‑coded stall and press firmly until it snaps into place, then close the door.
Connect the USB cable only when the software installation program prompts you to do so (step 17).
Calibration takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
Load the supplied HP Advanced Photo paper into the main tray with the glossy side down, align it to the right side of the tray, and adjust the paper guides so the paper lies flat.
