Introduction to the working principle, characteristics and use methods of the infrared ranging sensor GP2D12, and the test data of ranging error and ranging range
This manual explains the principle of operation of the GP2D12 infrared range‑finding module, its hardware connections, and how to integrate it into a robot platform. It also covers the sensor's electrical characteristics, power requirements and typical usage scenarios.
Detailed sections describe linearizing the non‑linear output, filtering noisy measurements, and provide example programs and data tables for accurate distance calculation. Appendices list supplemental files such as demo code and reference documents. This manual is written in Chinese.
| Range | 10 to 80 cm |
|---|---|
| Update frequency / period | 25 Hz / 40 ms |
| Direction of measured distance | Very directional |
| Max admissible angle on flat surface | > 40° |
| Power supply voltage | 4.5 to 5.5 V |
| Noise on analog output | < 200 mV |
| Mean consumption | 35 mA |
| Peak consumption | about 200 mA |
The sensor outputs an analog voltage from 0.4 V to 2.4 V, corresponding to distances from 80 cm down to 10 cm.
It operates from a supply voltage of 4.5 V to 5.5 V.
By measuring the output at several known distances, entering the data into the provided Excel table, and using the generated linearization formula (R = m'/(AD+b')‑F) in the firmware.
