About this manual

The nRF51 IoT SDK provides a complete IPv6‑capable Bluetooth® Smart software stack with examples for the nRF51 Series SoCs. It supports the Internet Protocol Support Profile (IPSP) and 6LoWPAN, enabling Bluetooth Smart devices to communicate directly with the Internet or other IP‑based networks.

Key features include 6LoWPAN compression/decompression, IPv6 prefix management, CoAP and MQTT libraries, and support for multiple IP addresses. The SDK can work with Nordic’s own IPv6 stack, the lwIP stack, or any third‑party IPv6 stack via clear interfaces, and includes example implementations for UDP, TCP, CoAP, and MQTT.
