This guide provides guidance and support for using the 2021 Ontario Marginalization Index (OMI) to assess the socio-economic status of communities in Ontario. The OMI is a multidimensional index that measures the relative position of a community in socio-economic terms compared to other communities in Ontario. The OMI can be used to evaluate community health status and to identify communities that need additional support. This guide describes the construction and use of the OMI, and provides examples of how to use the OMI for community analysis.
