This manual describes the components, operation method, troubleshooting, maintenance and maintenance of Solenoid Key Release Unit and Time Delay Key Release Unit.
This manual explains how to properly install and wire Kirk interlock units. It covers the SKPM solenoid panel‑mounted unit, the SKRU solenoid key release unit, and the TDKRU time‑delay key release unit, including wiring diagrams, auxiliary contacts, and testing procedures.
The guide also details key control procedures, lubrication with dry powdered graphite, service and maintenance steps, and how to obtain duplicate or replacement keys through the provided release form.
| SKPM auxiliary contacts | 2 normally open, 2 normally closed |
|---|---|
| SKRU auxiliary switch type | DPDT (quick‑make, quick‑break) |
| TDKRU components | Two key interlocks, timing device, solenoid, indicating light |
| Lubrication recommendation | Dry powdered graphite (no oil) |
| Graphite kit part number | GL-1 |
Mount the SKPM in the panel or enclosure, connect the solenoid leads to the appropriate circuit, wire the auxiliary contacts if required, and test the wiring to verify proper key position.
Use a small amount of dry powdered graphite; do not use any oil because it can foul the lock cylinder.
Complete the duplicate key release form (pages 9‑10) and fax it to Kirk Key Interlock Company for immediate delivery.
The TDKRU includes two key interlocks, a timing device, a solenoid, and an indicating light.
