About this manual

The LAL Nk2 is a compact audio analyser designed for development, testing and maintenance of professional and domestic audio equipment. It combines a low‑distortion signal generator, a six‑digit frequency counter and a versatile measuring system that can check signal levels, frequency response, noise, rumble, wow‑and‑flutter and distortion.

The manual covers first‑time setup, connection of the optional ST1 studio interface or MA2 Hi‑Fi interface, detailed procedures for generating signals, measuring various audio parameters, and routine maintenance such as battery operation, recalibration and circuit diagrams.

How do I zero the meter before first use?

Turn the instrument off and use a screwdriver beneath the meter to zero it.

What settings are required to generate a 1 V, 1 kHz test signal?

Set all toggle switches down, OUTPUT COARSE to 0 dB, OUTPUT FINE to MAX, FREQUENCY to 1 kHz, RANGE to ×100, FUNCTION to FLAT, INPUT COARSE to 0 dB, INPUT FINE to MAX, and DIST INPUT to READ OSC.

Can the LAL Nk2 be powered from mains voltage?

Yes, when the ST1 or MA2 interface is fitted the instrument can operate from 100‑120 V mains.
