Jaundice is a temporary condition caused by an excess of bilirubin accumulating in the fatty tissues of the skin, giving it a yellow color. In newborns, premature livers cannot effectively process this extra bilirubin, leading to toxic levels that can cause brain damage if left untreated. The Wallaby 3 system helps lower these levels through light therapy.
