The CS8161 is a 12V/5V dual output linear regulator. The 12V ± 5% output provides 400mA and the 5V ±2.0% output provides 200mA. The on-board ENABLE function controls the regulator's two outputs. When the ENABLE pin is low, the regulator is placed in SLEEP mode. Both outputs are disabled and the regulator draws only 200nA of quiescent current. The primary output, VOUT1, is protected against overvoltage conditions. Both outputs are protected against short circuit and thermal runaway conditions. The CS8161 is packaged in a 5 lead TOÐ220 with copper tab. The copper tab serves as the power supply pin.
The CS8161 is a 12V/5V dual output linear regulator designed to source 400mA and 200mA respectively. It features an on-board ENABLE function that places the device in SLEEP mode when the pin is low, drawing only 200nA of quiescent current.
The device includes comprehensive fault protection against overvoltage, short circuits, thermal runaway, reverse battery, and load dump conditions. It is available in a 5-lead TO-220 package with a copper tab for heat sinking or a 16-lead SO wide package.
| Primary Output Current | 400 mA maximum |
|---|---|
| Sleep Mode Quiescent Current | 200 nA typical |
| Thermal Shutdown Temperature | 150°C to 210°C |
The regulator draws only 200nA of quiescent current when the ENABLE pin is low.
The regulator enters SLEEP mode, disabling both outputs and drawing minimal current.
