The MD-45 is an interface converter between RS-232 and RS-422/485, used for point-to-point communication at data rates up to 115.2 kbit/s. It can communicate on 2-wire or 4-wire cable up to 1200 meters (4000 ft). In multidrop applications, it supports up to 32 connected devices on the bus. With 2-wire systems, the communication direction is controlled by the data flow, allowing connection of equipment that cannot generate handshaking signals. The MD-45 is designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN-rail, with easy attachment and locking of the modem. Greater transmission ranges or additional connected devices on the bus are possible with repeaters.
