This document describes the characteristics and application of UTP 665, a high-chromium special electrode used for repairing 12% chromium cutting tool steels. It has excellent welding properties and malleability.
The UTP 665 is a special high-chromium alloy electrode designed specifically for repairs on tool steels, particularly cutting tools made of 12% chromium steels such as grades 1.2601, 1.2080, and others. It is widely used in the automotive industry for stamping and pressing tools.
The product features excellent welding characteristics, including a stable arc, spatter-free fine-scaled welds without burn-through cracks, and very good slag removal. The resulting weld metal has a hardness of approximately 250 HB on Cr-cutting steel or 55-57 HRC after two layers. This manual is written in German.
| Hardness on Cr-cutting steel | ca. 250 HB |
|---|---|
| Hardness after two layers | 55 - 57 HRC |
A preheating of 400 - 450° C is required.
The current strength should be between 50 and 70 Amperes.
