About this manual

The Agilent Total RNA Isolation Mini Kit is designed to remove up to 1,000 times more genomic DNA than competing silica-based kits by using a unique prefiltration column. This eliminates the need for a separate DNase treatment step, reducing processing time and minimizing the risk of RNA degradation caused by RNase contamination in DNase reagents.

The kit provides high-yield RNA suitable for limited samples, allowing elution with as little as 10 µL to obtain concentrated RNA. It is optimized for isolating total RNA from mammalian tissues (2.5 - 30 mg) and cells (8 x 10^6 - 10^7), resulting in improved quality and reliability for critical applications like microarray and real-time PCR experiments.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum amount of tissue or cells this kit can process?

The kit handles a total sample load of up to 30 mg of tissue or 1 million cells.

How long does the RNA purification process take?

The kit allows you to purify RNA in 20 minutes by eliminating the DNase treatment step.

What volume of water is needed to elute the extracted RNA?

Pure RNA can be eluted using between 10 and 50 microliters of RNase-free water.
