MK1418/MK1420 OPL3, OPL4+Codec Clock Source is a type of audio clock generator produced by MicroClock Division of ICS company. This clock generator can provide clock signals for Analog Devices' AD1848, Crystal Semiconductor's CS4231, Yamaha's OPL3L, OPL3LS and OPL4 audio codec. It can use a 14.318MHz crystal or a 14.318MHz bus clock input to generate the required codec clocks and the 33.868MHz required for the FM or wavetable music synthesizer. This clock generator is packaged in an 8-pin SOIC and can save component count, board space and cost over surface mount crystals, and increase reliability by eliminating three or four mechanical devices from the board.
