About this manual

The SPX3819 is a positive‑voltage LDO regulator designed for battery‑powered applications such as cordless phones, radio‑control systems and portable computers. It offers low dropout (340 mV at full load), low output noise (40 µV) and a very low quiescent current of 90 nA.

The device is available in several fixed output voltages (1.2 V to 5.0 V) and in 5‑pin SOT‑23, 8‑pin nSOIC and 8‑pin DFN packages. Pin functions include EN (enable), ADJ/BYP (adjustment/bypass) and standard supply and ground pins. Ordering information, pin‑out diagrams and typical application circuits are provided.

Frequently asked questions

What is the dropout voltage at full load?

The regulator drops only 340 mV when delivering its maximum 500 mA load.

How do you enable or disable the SPX3819?

Pull the EN pin high above 2.0 V to enable the regulator; pulling it below 0.4 V disables it.

What output capacitor is recommended for stability?

A high‑quality 2.2 µF aluminum electrolytic capacitor works in most circuits, though a 1 µF tantalum can also provide stability.
