This is a user manual for ADS U-boot Bootloader, which introduces the function and features of U-boot, as well as how to use U-boot to boot and run the Linux operating system
The document provides an overview of the U‑boot bootloader for ADS single‑board computers, describing how to access the console via a serial terminal and the supported external media (CF, MMC, USB, NFS). It also details the default boot scripts (start.txt, root_config.txt, etc.) that control kernel loading and root filesystem selection.
Further sections explain how to boot Linux from various media, how to program kernels and filesystems into on‑board flash, and how to manage U‑boot environment variables and memory maps. The manual includes command examples, required file layouts, and troubleshooting notes.

Use a serial terminal program such as HyperTerminal, minicom, or kermit at 38400 baud, 8 data bits, no stop bits.
Place the kernel (zImage), ramdisk (ramdisk.gz), start.txt and root_config.txt on the CF card, set the appropriate environment variables, and power the board.
At the U‑boot prompt type `run eraseenv`, reset the board, then type `saveenv` to store the defaults.
