About this manual

The IDB-HC08JL Evaluation Board demonstrates the capabilities of the 28‑pin MC68HC908JL devices and can be used either as a standalone application or with a MON08‑based emulator such as SofTec’s inDART‑HC08. The board includes an MC68HC908JL3 microcontroller pre‑programmed with a demo application, a ZIF socket, a standard MON08 connector, eight low‑current LEDs, a potentiometer, DIP‑switches, and a 16‑MHz crystal oscillator.

Two operating modes are supported. In Standalone Mode the on‑board crystal and LED jumper settings must be configured, and the board can be powered from either a 9‑12 V unregulated supply or a 5 V regulated supply. In Host Mode the board connects to an external emulator/programmer, allowing debugging via a PC and the inDART‑HC08 system.
